Exciting Progress at No.03!

We’re thrilled to share the latest updates on Project No.03!

It’s been a couple of months since our last report, and the transformation has been remarkable. Below, you’ll find some snapshots of the progress, showcasing how quickly things are moving forward.

We now have both the main rear and side extension fully watertight, allowing interior works to proceed smoothly, unaffected by the unpredictable English weather. The newly installed first-floor windows not only offer a fresh look but also significantly improve the thermal performance of the house. These windows are part of a broader energy-efficiency overhaul, which includes external rendered wall insulation, upgraded roof and floor insulation, and a shift from gas heating to an air source heat pump. Solar panels have also been installed, helping the home reduce its carbon footprint and become more eco-friendly.

Inside, first fix electrics have been completed, with ductwork and pipework now neatly concealed behind plasterboard linings. Our meticulous planning ensures that every socket, switch, and light has been perfectly placed according to our detailed setting out drawings.

One of the most exciting milestones has been laying and pressure-testing the underfloor heating system. This was followed by pouring the concrete screed, which is now in the process of drying and will soon allow for the final floor finishes.

The first stages of drylining is complete, with grey plasterboards affixed to the blockwork and timber stud walls, green/blue moisture resistant plasterboard to the shower and wet areas, and fire-rated pink plasterboard installed where structural steelwork is present, including the impressive newly created large opening that connects the new and old parts of the house.

A major feature of the original house, the chimney, has been carefully restored. We’ve opened up and repaired the fireplace and chimney, added fire-rated linings, and fitted a new chimney flue, all in preparation for the installation of a wood-burning stove, which will be a cozy focal point of the new ‘snug’ area.

The new picture windows, rooflights, and sliding doors are now in place, giving the clients a clear vision of how much natural light will flood the space. The views of the garden are going to be stunning!

What’s next? The external walls of the extensions will be rendered with a smooth, off-white finish, and we’ll begin work on the small rear garden room extension which now has the plinth walls built and awaits installing the wall and roof frame and glazing to complete the project’s structural elements.

We’re excited about how this project is coming together and look forward to sharing more updates soon as we move into the final stages!
